Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has released 1,264,940 results for candidates who sat the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) on April 17 and 18.
The announcement was contained in the Board’s latest bulletin signed by its Public Communication Advisor, Fabian Benjamin.
The UTME, conducted annually by Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, serves as Nigeria’s centralised entrance examination into universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education. More than 2.2 million candidates registered for the 2026 examination.
Nearly 1.9 million results released so far
According to the examination body, 1,897,692 results have been released from the first three days of the examination.
Earlier, the Board had announced the release of 632,752 results for candidates who sat the examination on Thursday, April 16, 2026.
Providing an update on the latest batch, the Board stated:
“The results of candidates who sat the examination on Friday, April 17 and Saturday, April 18, 2026 have now been released. A total of 1,264,940 results from these two days are available for candidates to check.”
The nationwide examination is scheduled to run for 10 days, from April 16 to April 25, 2026.
How to check the 2026 UTME result via SMS
Candidates can access their results using the mobile phone number used during registration. JAMB has provided two official SMS numbers—55019 and 66019—for the result-checking service.
Steps to check the result via SMS:
- Open the messaging app on the phone used during registration.
- Compose a new message by typing RESULT, followed by a space and your JAMB Registration Number.
- Send the message to 55019 or 66019.
- Wait for a response from Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board containing your UTME scores for each subject.
Candidates should note that the SMS service attracts a ₦100 charge, which will be deducted from the phone’s airtime.
How to check the result through the JAMB portal
Candidates can also check their UTME results online through the official portal of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board.
Steps to check online:
- Visit the JAMB e-Facility portal.
- Log in using your JAMB registration number or email address and password.
- Click on “Print Examination Slip.”
- Your complete UTME result will appear on the screen.
This option allows candidates to view a more detailed breakdown of their examination scores using either a smartphone or a computer.
More CBT centres deployed for 2026 UTME
The 2026 UTME is being conducted nationwide from April 16 to April 25, with more than 1,000 Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres deployed across the country.
This marks an increase from fewer than 800 CBT centres used in 2025, a move designed to improve accessibility and reduce congestion for candidates.
However, following the mock UTME conducted earlier in April, the Board removed 23 CBT centres across several states after identifying technical and operational deficiencies.
The affected centres reportedly experienced system failures, network disruptions, and delays that prevented candidates from sitting the examination as scheduled.
Authorities say the decision was taken to protect the integrity of the examination process and ensure smoother conduct of the remaining UTME sessions.
