The planned Initial Public Offer (IPO) of Dangote Petroleum Refinery will become the first public offer in Nigeria that allows retail investors to subscribe entirely through digital channels, according to the Chief Executive Officer of Vetiva Capital Management Limited, Chuka Eseka.

Eseka disclosed this on Monday at the signing ceremony for the refinery’s IPO, describing the digital-first structure as a deliberate strategy to broaden access and enable Nigerians across the country to participate in the offering.

According to him, the adoption of digital channels is expected to simplify the subscription process for retail investors by reducing reliance on traditional physical processes and making participation more accessible to a wider pool of investors.

The development represents a significant step in the evolution of Nigeria’s capital market, particularly as regulators and market operators seek to increase retail participation through technology-driven investment platforms.

Eseka further stated that, upon successful completion of the offering, Dangote Petroleum Refinery would become the largest single listed company on the Nigerian Exchange (NGX).

The scale of the proposed listing, combined with its digital-first subscription structure, is expected to make the offering a major event for Nigeria’s capital market and potentially broaden retail ownership of one of the country’s most significant industrial assets.

The IPO is therefore expected to attract significant interest from individual investors seeking exposure to the refinery, while its digital subscription model could set a new precedent for future public offers in Nigeria.
