In early June, Bidemi Sonoiki, Grenada’s Honorary Consul in Nigeria, announced during a press conference in Lagos that the Caribbean nation would grant Nigerians visa-free entry as part of efforts to strengthen economic and business ties between both countries.
According to Sonoiki, the arrangement would provide Nigerian entrepreneurs, investors and professionals with easier access to Grenada and create opportunities to explore new markets beyond Africa.
The visa-free arrangement was scheduled to take effect in July 2026, but the development also draws attention to a broader and potentially more significant opportunity for wealthy Nigerians: Grenada’s Citizenship-by-Investment (CBI) programme.
The programme has increasingly attracted interest from Nigerian high-net-worth individuals seeking greater international mobility.
Beyond direct access to Grenada, citizenship through the programme can serve as a strategic gateway to wider global travel opportunities, including easier access to several international markets.
For Nigerian investors and entrepreneurs, the growing interest in Grenada therefore extends beyond tourism or visa-free travel. It reflects a broader strategy among wealthy individuals to diversify their global mobility, business access and investment options.
