The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) recovered N1.23 trillion and secured 10,872 convictions during the first 34 months of Ola Olukoyede’s tenure as chairman.

The figures cover the period from October 1, 2023, to July 31, 2026, highlighting the commission’s enforcement, investigation, prosecution and asset recovery activities under the current leadership.

The EFCC disclosed the figures in a video posted on its official X account on Thursday, September 24.

EFCC received nearly 50,000 petitions

According to the commission, it received 49,673 petitions during the period and investigated 39,615 cases.

It subsequently filed 14,476 cases in court as part of its efforts to prosecute alleged financial crimes and secure convictions.

The 10,872 convictions recorded over the 34-month period underscore the scale of the commission’s prosecution activities during the period.

Dollar recoveries reach $684.48m

In addition to the N1.23 trillion recovered, the EFCC reported $684.48 million in dollar-denominated recoveries.

The commission also recorded recoveries denominated in other foreign currencies during the period.

The recovery figures form part of the broader asset-recovery efforts undertaken by the EFCC, alongside investigations and prosecutions of alleged economic and financial crimes.

The commission’s latest disclosure provides an overview of its enforcement activities since Olukoyede assumed office, with recoveries, convictions and prosecutions forming key components of its anti-corruption mandate.
